Process
Disciplines
At Key-Connections, process disciplines are applied to improve performance,
achieve intended results, and sustain growth. I have purposefully
designed the process disciplines in a way that mimics a consistently
repeating four-beat pattern discerned in many natural systems observed
over the years. For example, the seasonal cycle consists of winter,
spring, summer, and fall; the night/day cycle consists of night, dawn,
day, and dusk; the transformative journey of the caterpillar consists
of egg, larva, pupa, and adult; each breath we take seems to follow
a similar pattern consisting of inhalation, pause, exhalation, pause;
the beat of the human heart also exhibits a similar four-step cycle.

In
the interest of simplicity, I have identified two core process
disciplines that inform the majority of Key-Connections
work. I call these the Clarity
Cycle and the Accountability
Cycle. The Clarity Cycle mimics the natural cycle of
the four seasons. At the most basic level, the Clarity Cycle
is a planning process applied to clearly say what you intend
to do. The Accountability Cycle mimics the cycle of night and
day, and builds your capacity to consistently follow through
and do what you say. |
Each process discipline provides you with a high-level, four-phase
framework, which can be applied to map and implement your course for
growth and change. The resulting roadmaps allow you to focus on the
details and challenges you encounter in your moment-to-moment activities,
while maintaining a clear sense of the broader, longer-term journey
you are participating in.
When all four phases of each cycle are invested in with equal attention
and vigor, positive results are more consistently accomplished and
sustained. When one or more of these phases is ignored or treated
as less important, the health of the system is jeopardized and detrimental
effects begin to appear.
